Kara Landers is a high school student with no friends. But it’s by choice. She tries her hardest to avoid being pulled into social events of any kind. It’s almost time for exams and Kara’s dad has concerns about her slight drop in grades. She’s always done consistently well and the only difference in her life is Oliver’s presence. Fearing it would continue in a trend – and wanting her to have as many options as possible after high school – he talks to her and Oliver about her grades and how he thinks Oliver is a bad distraction.
Not wanting to be a bad influence on Kara, and hoping to change her father’s opinion, he offers to tutor her. Though she’s reluctant at first, she accepts help, but that’s when things go awry.
What goes wrong? Will Kara bring her grades up enough to satisfy her father? What will happen to her relationship with Oliver if she fails?
With summer break started, Kara is ready to relax and get in some well-deserved gaming time. Oliver pops up with an offer of a getaway to his families beach house for a week. Regardless of her answer, he’s required to go as that’s his yearly family reunion.
Although a bit reluctant to be away from her family for long, Kara agrees to go. Little does she know there’s a familiar, unwelcomed face waiting for her at the beach.

Their vacation at the beach house is reaching the end, which means Kara, Oliver and the others all have to attend the Bowen Family reunion.
Oliver’s uncle is in charge this year, and he’s decided to change it up. Instead of a dinner, there’s a masquerade and instead of it being family and their guests, he’s invited a slew of other people in the area.
